AI Regulation
There is no regulation specifically governing AI in the country. However, it has been reported that a national AI strategy is under development.1

Public Consultations
In June 2024, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications convened the National Consultations on Artificial Intelligence (CONIA) (Concertations Nationales Sur L’intelligence Artificielle).2

Human Rights
The UDHR was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 10 December 1948. Its principles are considered universal and applicable to all UN member states. As a member of the UN, Cameroon has committed to upholding the principles of the UDHR. The Constitution of Cameroon includes in its preamble the protection of fundamental human rights.10 These include the right to privacy (protection of correspondence) as well as the rights to equality, life, freedom of expression, children’s education, and work. Cameroon has ratified several key international human rights instruments, including the ACHPR, ICCPR, and ICESCR. Additionally, the country has signed but not ratified the Malabo Convention.
